CemFloor

 
Due to its highly responsive nature, Cemfloor is a popular solution for use where underfloor heating is also installed. This is due to the fact it can be laid in very thin sections and has a high thermal conductivity of up to 2.9w/mk. However, that doesn’t mean you need to have underfloor heating, it can also be used without, as it dries naturally to a final moisture content of 5% like traditional sand/cement screeds.

Cemfloor has been developed by Cemexa Technologies – a key player of the European market and one of the active leaders of cement screed development. It consists of cement binder, fine aggregate, proprietary additive, high-range water reducer, and water and has been produced to comply fully with the current European standards.

Pre installation considerations

It’s important that your site is well-prepared for installation, which firstly means that the area should be cleared of anything which might contaminate the Cemfloor Screed: mud, dirt, water, construction debris. Secondly, it is also desirable for Cemfloor to be installed in a totally weather tight environment where the windows and doors are in place. However, if this isn’t possible all apertures should be well-covered with weather resistant polythene. Finally, a 5mm thick compressible border strip should be applied around walls and all upstands, columns, piers, and pipes where necessary, construction joints should also be used (maximum bay sizes of 150m2 can be placed without the need for construction joints.)

Installing Cemfloor

 
Before pumping commences, we will test each load of Cemfloor for workability and if required, adjust accordingly. The target flow for this product is 230 to 260mm – to increase the flow we can add five litres of water per metre of screed. Our team will take care to avoid leading edges being left open for any length of time, that freshly laid Cemfloor is always well blended and that the screed is placed to the desired level.

Once the screed is down, we will complete the levelling process using a dapple brush. We will pass over the screed in opposite directions, pressing the full depth of the brush into the screed. At the same time, we also apply a suitable curing agent – we recommend using XXXXXXXXX.

The curing process

 
The room then needs to be sealed for a minimum of 24 hours in the summer and 48 hours in the winter until the initial set has being completed. After this, the screed will be ready to be walked on and doors and windows can be opened to allow ventilation to assist in the drying process.

Drying and final preparation

 
The drying time is dependent on the conditions, the depth of the slab and the final relative humidity content required. We will carry out suitable test methods to ensure it reaches the required relative humidity. After 7 days, Cemfloor Screeds can then be force dried using dehumidifiers and underfloor heating. At this point you are then ready to think about clearing the area of any debris, ready for final floor coverings.
